Support for victims

In Madagascar, support for victims of gender-based violence is very weak, or even non-existent in some cases. We receive many testimonies and know that it is essential to act.

The essentials of our actions to support victims

However, as we do not have a focal point in every locality, it is difficult for us to take charge of and accompany the victims ourselves. This is why we are setting up :

A psychological first aid guide

A guide adapted to accompany agents in charge of psychological support, considering the diversity of victims of violence: sex workers, disabled women, elderly women, married women, etc. This guide evolves over time and is used in our training courses.

A list of centers where victims can go in each city where we have volunteers.

All the centers on the list have been tested and evaluated by us and some of their members have even attended our training courses: Listening and Legal Advice Centre, Integrated Care Centre, Mahavaa Centre, Tihava Platform, Arrupe Faravohitra Centre
We also advise victims to contact the emergency number (813/143) to be referred in case of violence (For Antananarivo)

Our means to be inclusive:

• Co-creation of GBV awareness tools for people with disabilities with the National Union of Disabled People and the association Alternatives Madagascar
• Camp Vert in Nosy Be
Informal space for young people from the LGBTQIA+ community who are victims of discrimination and violence. Led by Ryshna, a slammer and member of WBTS, this cultural center adopts art therapy.

We try to find solutions and partnerships to relieve the victims.
• Football club in partnership with YFOMAC as a therapy.
